RPL-20 light machine gun breaks cover as Russian paratroopers launch fresh attack on Ukrainian defenses
Developed by Kalashnikov concern, the RPL-20 is Russia’s light machine gun, which has been fed by the first belt for decades, and is designed to address the shortcomings of previous staff automatic weapons. Historically, the Russian cadres relied on machine guns fed by magazine, such as RPK-74, which lacked the constant suppressing firepower required for modern, high-intensity participation, although it was light. The development of the RPL-20 was intensively shaped by feedback from Russian attack units, especially at the Ukrainian Theater. According to Alan Lushnikov, General Director of Kalashnikov, the weapon was changed and tested directly from the troops, which resulted in a machine gun that has already received positive assessments from the facade experts.

Tactical effect on the battlefield
Russian parachutists report that RPL-20 significantly increases the ability to suppress and gain acceleration during attacks. Average attack groups of light structure and high capacity belt feeding can move quickly while giving heavy firepower. Multicam camouflage pattern increases survival in various environments.
