RPL-20 light machine gun breaks cover as Russian paratroopers launch fresh attack on Ukrainian defenses

Developed by Kalashnikov concern, the RPL-20 is Russia’s light machine gun, which has been fed by the first belt for decades, and is designed to address the shortcomings of previous staff automatic weapons. Historically, the Russian cadres relied on machine guns fed by magazine, such as RPK-74, which lacked the constant suppressing firepower required for modern, high-intensity participation, although it was light. The RPL-20’s belt-fed system and the fast-changing barrel offer both firepower and flexible leap by directly responding to the demands of the battlefield.
War -driven design
The development of the RPL-20 was intensively shaped by feedback from Russian attack units, especially at the Ukrainian Theater. According to Alan Lushnikov, General Director of Kalashnikov, the weapon was changed and tested directly from the troops, which resulted in a machine gun that has already received positive assessments from the facade experts.
- Caliber: 5.45 × 39 mm matches the standard Russian infantry tour for logistics compatibility.
- Weight: 5.2-5.5 kg (depending on the barrel length), making it highly portable for air and attack units.
- Barrel options: 590 mm for two-interchangeable barrel-long range and 415 mm for close quarter, adapting to task needs.
- Feeding System: Non -integrated straps in 100 or 200 round soft boxes provide fast reinstalling without continuous suppressing fever and receiving the recipient.
- Fire Rate: 600-800 bullets per minute give the squad the ability to quit intense, correct fire.
- Modularity: Adjustable telescopic stock to install optics and accessories, picatinny rails and M-lok slots and also a fast barrel system for continuous interactions.
Tactical effect on the battlefield
Russian parachutists report that RPL-20 significantly increases the ability to suppress and gain acceleration during attacks. Average attack groups of light structure and high capacity belt feeding can move quickly while giving heavy firepower. Multicam camouflage pattern increases survival in various environments.
The introduction of the RPL-20 may mean the difference between the widespread trench war in Ukraine, and urban war, constantly suppressing and invasion. His compatibility with standard Russian ammunition and accessories also provides trouble -free integration into the current military logistics.
In the first stages of field distribution, the RPL-20 is already greeting as a game exchange for Russian infantry tactics. The concern of Kalashnikov announced his plans to develop variants in other calibers such as 7.62 × 39 mm and 5.56 × 45 mm and potentially expanded his charm to export markets. As more tests and improvements continue, the RPL-20 is preparing to be the basis of the firepower of the Russian staff in the coming years.
With the words of Russia’s troops in the air, the RPL-20 “the attack group significantly increases the firepower and allows the suppression of enemy resistance under all circumstances.”
