More than 40 Missing in Nigeria Boat Accident

Lagos: The country’s emergency agency said on Sunday that rescue workers were looking for more than 40 people after a boat accident in Nigeria’s northwest Sokoto state.

Nema, “About 10 people were rescued, more than 40 passengers lost.”

Boat accidents are widespread, especially during the annual rain season of rivers and lakes, in weakly arranged waterways of Nigeria due to excessive crowded and low maintenance.

At least 16 farmers died in a similar accident in August 2024 and a wooden canoe that carries them to the rice fields in Sokoto.

On July 29, six girls drowned them after a boat that took them home from the farm business in the middle flow in the northwest Jigawa province.

Two days ago, at least 13 people died in another boat accident in the center of Niger state.
