Port Arthur-era National Firearms Agreement to be renegotiated; Naveed Akram remains in hospital; Trump, Keir Starmer, Benjamin Netyanyahu respond

A left-leaning businessman caused a media storm by criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the wake of the Bondi terror attack, saying the Israeli leader had overlooked the impact of his own policies in spreading anti-Semitism.

British millionaire Dale Vince, who has called for action on climate change and donated to Labor and the Greens, made the warning after Netanyahu accused the Australian government of encouraging antisemitism.

“Evaluating the armed attacks in Australia today, Netanyahu said, “When leaders remain silent, anti-Semitism spreads. “It has nothing to do with Israel,” he said. [sic] At that time, genocide was taking place in Palestine. Netanyahu wants anti-Semitism to be a thing, it validates it, and he is taking action to make it happen,” Vince wrote to X.

His remarks sparked rapid criticism on social media, as Bondi expressed lack of sympathy for his victims and doubled down on his criticism of the Israeli leader. “If antisemitism is on the rise in the world today, then by any rational analysis, the single biggest cause would certainly be the genocide in Palestine. I condemn all acts of violence and all forms of racism.”

Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch called on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to publicly condemn Vince’s remarks. Former Labor MP John Woodcock, an advisor on countering extremism who now serves as Baron Walney in the House of Lords, described the comments as disgusting and also called on Starmer to cut ties with Vince.

“Islamist terrorists often try to press the latest grievance against the Israeli government,” Lord Walney wrote, “but the victims on Bondi beach were murdered as they were when they gathered to celebrate Hanukkah – just as Jewish people have been targeted throughout history.”
