Royal Family Christmas sleeping arrangements include ‘fish finger beds’ | Royal | News

However, it is believed that sleeping arrangements for the remaining royals are not as lavish as some royal fans think.

The royal expert once said they were told some guests would have to share rooms on “fish finger” style beds, as the house reportedly could only accommodate 16 to 18 people.

It is also believed that in some years members of the Royal Family stayed in staff rooms, which were occasionally converted into guest bedrooms.

This was claimed by Rebecca English, Royal Editor of the Daily Mail, said: “I have been told in previous years that they have had to evacuate staff from their rooms. Edward and Sophie have been placed in some staff rooms as they have nowhere else to stay.”

She added: “It looks more glamorous than it is.”

While the Prince and Princess of Wales spend Christmas Day each year with their children at Sandringham, they are believed to have returned to their nearby home, Anmer Hall, to spend the night.

There are other properties at Sandringham Estate where other guests stay, while some guests reside in the main house.

King Charles is expected to stay at Sandringham for a few more days to continue enjoying the peaceful Christmas period before royal engagements resume in the New Year.
