Washington’s double standard arming nuclear race in Middle East

The United States and Saudi Arabia announced last week that they had signed a nuclear cooperation agreement that would give “American companies greater access to the Saudi nuclear energy program” while allowing the Gulf kingdom to develop a civilian nuclear program. America signed a similar agreement with the United Arab Emirates in 2009.

But contrary to this arrangement, Saudi Arabia has rejected a commitment not to enrich uranium or reprocess spent fuel, key activities of its nuclear weapons program.
