Huge boost for Badenoch as voters deliver verdict on Jenrick | Politics | News

A reader commenting under the name “SetonDuring” said: “Miss Badenoch should be thanked for this harsh and accurate dismissal.”

A ‘Corona’ reader disagreed and commented: “Bad move by Badenoch, but I can understand why he did it. He doesn’t want to be removed as leader.”

To which a third reader, writing under the name “Susandenham”, replied: “He left her with absolutely no choice. She deserves to be rid of someone who is trying to bring down the party in any way. Her actions are indefensible.”

The same reader said Mr Jenrick had been a leadership rival since Ms Badenoch won the official race to become Conservative Party leader.

They added: “They were rivals at the time and he made it but she didn’t, it seems like the resentment started right there. It was the right move and it stole his thunder.”

Despite the criticism, Mr Jenrick received some support from Express readers. Commenting under the name “Aspidistra”, a reader wrote: “Jenrick has done us all a favor by revealing how Labor and the Conservative Party are doing a double-take in wooing British public opinion.”

Fellow reader “Toomanymutts” said: “Badenoch is another one of those who don’t care about the ongoing illegal immigration scourge, and so does Jenrick.”

Another, “zigijedi”, wrote: “Kemi probably had no choice. But Jenrick was supporting her dying party and his departure heralded a realignment of politics.”

To which reader, the “Old Man” replied: “Total nonsense. He is the only hope they have. I am 80 years old and currently neutral in politics and have always been a centrist. I think he is the most honest and decent person in politics today.”
