Missouri Domino’s driver accused of hitting customer with car over lack of tip

A delivery driver in Domino, Missouri, is behind bars after police say he turned a routine pizza delivery into a violent confrontation by using his car to attack a customer during a heated argument about not receiving a tip.
Zachary Nicholus Walton, 36, was arrested April 29 in Fulton and faces multiple felony charges, including first-degree assault, armed criminal action and leaving the scene of an accident. Jail records show he is being held without bail.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the incident occurred around 7:21 p.m., when officers responded to a report of a crash involving injuries at a home.
A witness told authorities that the Domino’s driver became angry during the delivery and hit the victim with his vehicle.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim and a witness; Both described a rapid escalation of the conflict. The victim told police Walton became angry because he didn’t receive a tip, which led to an argument.
Investigators say surveillance video captured Walton initiating the confrontation, yelling profanities and calling the victim and witness “fucking rude.” He also allegedly taunted them by saying, “What are you going to do, idiot? Come and get me,” before returning to his vehicle.

But the situation did not end there.
According to testimony, Walton got into his vehicle and backed into the road. At this point the victim was walking down the driveway and was not stopping Walton from leaving.

Authorities said Walton, who was almost completely inside the road, then started the vehicle and deliberately accelerated forward, striking the victim.
The impact forced the alleged victim into a vehicle to avoid more serious injuries. Police reported the victim had visible injuries to his hand and additional pain and possible abrasions to his shin.

Walton then allegedly fled at a high rate of speed without contacting authorities.
Officers later found him at a local Domino’s; There, he admitted to driving the car into the victim but claimed he did so only to “scare her,” according to court documents.

Investigators noted that Walton had prior convictions in Callaway County for domestic assault and false imprisonment, for which he had previously been sentenced to prison.
Authorities say Walton’s actions during the confrontation, including intentional driving and fleeing, demonstrated a disregard for the safety of others and made him a danger to the victim and the community.
