The big night is here. On January 22, the 2026 Oscar nominees will be officially announced. Ahead of the nominations, Indian cinephiles and cinephiles are supporting filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan’s film Homebound to secure the nomination and represent the country on the global stage. When and where to watch the 2026 Oscar nominations?
Color Purple actress Danielle Brooks, herself a former nominee, and Thunderbolts and Top Gun: Maverick star Lewis Pullman will announce the nominations in 24 categories live from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles.
The 98th Oscar nominees will be announced in two parts. The first round will take place at 8:30 ET/5:30 PT. The second set of nominations will be announced at 8:41 a.m. PT/5:41 a.m. PT. According to Indian Standard Time, nominations will begin around 5.30 pm.
How to watch the Oscars 2026 nominations?
Indian viewers can watch the nomination announcement on various free and easily accessible platforms. The Academy will publish the nominations on its official website (Oscar.com and Oscar.org), as well as on its YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook channels. Speaking of international viewers, they can watch the announcement live on ABC’s Good Morning America. Nominations will also air on Hulu, Disney+ and ABC News Live.

Five candidates will compete in each category, except for Best Picture, which has 10 nominees. Neeraj Ghaywan’s film Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor, was shortlisted in the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards. Every Indian has his eyes on this category. It will be a proud moment for Homebound to take part in this race. The leading productions in the Best Film category include Hamnet, Frankenstein, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, Sinners, Sentimental Value, Train Dreams and Wicked: For Good. In the Animated Movie category, KPop Demon Hunters and Zootopia 2 are at the forefront.
