US Visa Applicants Must Disclose All Social Media Handles from Past 5 Years, Says US Embassy in India

New Delhi: The US Embassy in India has published a reminder to all visa applicants to accurately explain the social media user names or handles used in the last five years as part of the DS-160 visa application process.
According to the Embassy, applicants must list all the platforms used in this period and confirm that the information provided in their applications is correct and complete before submitting.
“Failure to disclose social media information may result in a visa rejection and may affect compliance for future visa applications,” the Embassy said. The requirement is part of the broader security supervision process aimed at providing transparency of the US government and verifying the applicant’s information.
Candidates are asked to carefully review all the details before signing and sending DS-160 forms.
