Six killed in car crash in southwestern Poland

Six people were killed when two cars collided head-on near Zieleniec in southwestern Poland, police said.

The accident occurred early on Wednesday at the intersection of two main roads near the village, a police spokesman told Polish news agency PAP.

A fire department spokesman said five people died in one of the vehicles, which caught fire after the collision.

The driver of the other vehicle also died.

According to the emergency services, all occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.

They have not yet been identified.

Polish authorities have urged drivers to be careful due to icy conditions as temperatures drop below 0C, with roads expected to be busy due to Christmas holiday traffic.
