Catherine and Charlotte perform Christmas carol service piano duet

The Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte performed a piano duet together for the Christmas carol ceremony.
Mother and daughter did not appear live at the Christmas Together event held at Westminster Abbey earlier this month.
But their performance of a score by Scottish composer Erland Cooper was pre-recorded at Windsor Castle for the Christmas Eve event, which was broadcast exclusively on ITV1 last week.
Before the program, Kensington Palace introduced the clip with a video titled “A special duet…” in which Catherine and a then-unknown person played the piano.
In the clip, the duo can be seen sitting at the piano together and playing the Holm Sound song, which they seem to know well and enjoy playing together at home.
The Princess of Wales used only her left hand, while Charlotte played only with her right hand in the Inner Hall of Windsor Castle.
During the performance, footage was shown of guests arriving for the caroling ceremony; The Prince of Wales and Catherine watched as their children tied paper chains bearing their names to a “Tree of Connection” outside the abbey.
This is not the first time Catherine, who has passed third-grade piano and fifth-grade theory classes, has played at a carol service.
It surprised audiences at its inaugural event in 2021. accompanies singer-songwriter Tom Walker on piano Singing Christmas For Those Who Aren’t Here.
Organizers said this year’s theme — “celebrating the power of love and togetherness” by recognizing people across the country who contribute to society — was chosen because people can celebrate love in all its forms in a world that can often feel fragmented and disconnected.
It seems that Catherine wanted to include the special performance to emphasize the importance of connections.
“The time, care, and compassion you give, often silently and unspoken and without any expectation or recognition, makes an extraordinary difference in the lives of others,” Catherine wrote in a letter that accompanies each service order.
This year, as well as the mother-daughter duet, 1,600 guests – from royalty to celebrities and local heroes – were treated to a mix of traditional and modern elements, covering people of all faiths and no faith.
While poems were read aloud by actors such as Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor, names such as Katie Melua, Dan Smith and Zac Abel also performed musical performances.
The Prince of Wales read the Bible from the podium.
Princess Charlotte and her brothers Prince George and Prince Louis also attended the ceremony.
