Billie will be the second woman to take on the role of a Time Lord, following Jodie Whittaker’s portrayal of the 13th Doctor.
At the time, the actor said in a statement: ‘It’s no secret how much I love this show and I’ve always said I’d love to return to the Whoniverse because I’ve made some of my fondest memories there, so being given the opportunity to step back into the Tardis once again was something I couldn’t refuse.’

The Tribes frontman confirmed that she split from musician Johnny in March 2024 after eight years.
Fans spotted the exes kissing their seven-year-old daughter Tallulah at a London bar in the summer.
Billie, 43, and Johnny, 39, were beaming as they chatted with friends outside as the family enjoyed a country music concert at a pub in Notting Hill.
One viewer told The Sun: ‘Billie and Johnny were everywhere. They looked really cute together. Billie was all smiles as their daughter Tallulah sat on her lap.
Billie rested her elbow on Johnny’s shoulder as the band played country music covers; They all looked blissfully happy.
‘The family trio left the venue around 8pm, thanking the group with handshakes and kisses.’
