Three brothers drowned in Godavari river at Basar

In a tragic turn of events, three brothers from Hyderabad drowned in the Godavari River at Basar in Nirmal district during their pilgrimage to the famous temple town on Tuesday.

According to the police, the deceased brothers were identified as N. Chandrasekhar (38), N. Ramchander (36) and N. Mallesh Kumar (31), small businessmen of Chappal Bazar near Kacheguda in Hyderabad.

Three siblings of a small business owner family had come to Basar with their family members to pray at the historic Gnana Saraswati temple on Tuesday morning. They had the courage to enter the river to take a dip when the incident occurred.

Sources added that while they were trying to save each other, they were swept away by a strong undercurrent.

The bodies were recovered from the river by the police after a joint search operation with the help of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel and swimmers.

Heartbreaking scenes unfolded on the riverbank where the father of the dead trio wailed inconsolably along with other distraught family members.
