Monmouth shops left underwater in floods as ‘major incident’ declared | News

Monmouth suffered severe flooding in the early hours of Saturday 15 November, prompting South Wales Fire and Rescue to declare a major incident following the aftermath of Storm Claudia in Wales.
Matt Jones, regional manager of the service, stated that the flood had reached serious levels and that the roads should be kept open so that emergency services could reach those who needed it most, and called on the public to stay away from the area completely.
He added that conditions remained challenging, with fast-flowing water, closed roads and pressure on infrastructure, and crews were working tirelessly throughout the night to assist those affected.
