More than 4.42 lakh apply for inclusion in electoral rolls as of December 27 in Tamil Nadu

Between December 19 and December 27, when the claim and objection period started, a total of 4 million 42 thousand 70 people applied for Form 6/6A to become voters.

More than 2.56 lakh people visited polling stations in Tamil Nadu to submit Form 6 applications for inclusion in the electoral rolls on Saturday, December 27, 2025 alone, after the Election Commission of India organized special booth-level camps.

These special camps were held on Saturday, December 27 and Sunday, December 28 and will be held again on January 3 and 4, 2026. The purpose of these special camps was to help citizens convey their demands and objections after the draft voter roll was published on December 19 under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

The claim and objection period will remain open until January 18, 2026.

According to official data, a total of 4,741 people submitted Form 7 requesting the exclusion of voters who are not eligible to vote. In addition, around 2.72 lakh Stand Level Representatives (BLAs) appointed by six national and six State parties are assisting the process. As of December 27, DMK and AIADMK’s BLAs each submitted 24 applications for inclusion, while AIADMK and BJP submitted 63 and one forms respectively for exclusion.

So far no application has been made for inclusion or exclusion by anyone other than the voters of the Assembly segment. The Election Commission had published the draft electoral rolls for Tamil Nadu on December 19; here around 97.37 lakh voters were deleted out of 6.41 crore, reducing the total number of voters to 5.43 crore.
