BJP to stage protests in various cities starting from Ballari on January 17

Ahead of possible elections to local bodies in the state, the BJP has chalked out various measures to mobilize its cadre, including plans to stage protests in four different cities against the government’s alleged failures on various fronts.
Announcing this at a press conference in Bengaluru on Tuesday, BJP State president BY Vijayendra said the party will start its protest series on January 17 from Ballari, where an agitation will be staged against the alleged failure of law and order situation in the state.
Alleging that there was widespread corruption in the appointment of police officers, he said this had led to a complete breakdown of law and order and this could also be seen in the death of a Congress worker in an encounter in Ballari.
He alleged that the sand mafia, taking advantage of the lack of law and order in the state, has again reared its ugly head while anti-national forces are also active.
He said the drug mafia was expanding its network in the state and announced that the party would hold a protest in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s hometown Mysuru against the State government’s alleged inaction against the drug network.
Similarly, an agitation will be held in Bagalkot against the government’s “failure” to respond to farmers’ problems, while another protest will be held in Hubballi against the “failure” in promptly distributing funds towards the monthly installments of the Gruhalakshmi scheme to the beneficiaries.
Taking exception to the government’s still failure to pay any compensation to the family of a Dalit woman killed in the Uttara Kannada district, he stated that “Congress dispensation is least disturbed by the atrocities against Dalits. A Dalit woman was killed in Hubballi while another Dalit woman was robbed and assaulted by the police.”
