Divya Khosla Kumar is at the center of a controversy regarding her film Savi and Alia Bhatt’s film Jigra. He recently shared an audio recording of a conversation he had with Mukesh Bhatt; here she confronts him about reports claiming that he is creating a controversy about Jigra for publicity.
Actor-filmmaker Divya Khosla Kumar publicly shared the audio recording of her phone conversation with senior producer Mukesh Bhatt on her social media account, further intensifying the year-long debate regarding Alia Bhatt’s film Jigra and film Savi.
What’s in Divya Khosla Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt’s phone conversation?
The now-viral audio clip appears to capture an emotional exchange in which Divya confronts Mukesh about reports on major media platforms accusing her of staying in the news and creating gossip to publicize a controversy around Jigra. In the recording, Divya is heard asking Mukesh Bhatt if he spoke against her in the media, which Bhatt denied. He also referred to various articles accusing him of creating during Alia Bhatt’s film Jigra, which releases in 2024.
Later in the video, Divya is heard expressing her displeasure and disappointment, especially since the reports surfaced on her birthday. In the audio, Mukesh Bhatt is heard assuring her that he had not said anything like that and insisting that the argument was timed to hurt her. Mukesh was heard saying that this was a reaction from the other side, implying that these negative stories were deliberately made up against him to irritate him. Mukesh Bhatt was once again heard asking Divya not to be influenced by him and told her to “get over it”. Divya was also heard telling Mukesh Bhatt that she respects him a lot and is hurt by the latest allegations. Divya had earlier claimed that the story of the film mirrors her project Savi.
Recently, Mukesh Bhatt openly denied her accusations as an attempt to gain publicity. By releasing this recording, Divya has now opened a new layer of discussion.
Why did Divya Khosla post her phone conversation with Mukesh Bhatt?
Sharing the audio clip, Divya wrote, “Unfortunately, I am left with no option but to release the phone conversation between Mr. Mukesh Bhatt and me, so that people can hear for themselves how certain groups are trying to sabotage careers and push out real talent. This behavior is unacceptable and cannot be normalized. It is time to raise our voices. It is time to call out the industry mafia.”
I will raise my voice and fight this. Now it’s time for us to talk. “It’s time to call out the industrial mafia.”
For the uninitiated, Jigra featured Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt. Despite its strong story, the film underperformed at the box office. Divya had accused the makers of Jigra of copying the story of the movie Savi, which also starred Harshvardhan Rane.
