Records of the crash involving an Air Canada jet and a runway fire truck at LaGuardia Airport reveal an air traffic controller admitting he was ‘fucked’ shortly after the tragic incident.
Audio revealed that air traffic control allowed the fire truck to cross the runway to attend to an unrelated problem, then suddenly ordered “stop, stop, stop” seconds before impact.
In a recorded conversation between a Frontier Airlines pilot and an on-duty LaGuardia air traffic controller, the airport official says: ‘I tried to get to my belongings. [sic]and we were dealing with an emergency before. ‘I messed everything up.’
There were 72 passengers and 4 crew members on the plane. Authorities said that two pilots died in the accident and at least 41 people were hospitalized.
Responding to the crash, President Trump, speaking to reporters in Florida on Monday morning, said: ‘They made a mistake. This is a dangerous job. ‘This is terrible.’
Harrowing footage showed an Air Canada plane crashing on the tarmac on Monday morning after the plane from Montreal collided with an airport vehicle at 11:40pm on Sunday night.
A female flight attendant was reportedly thrown from the front of the jet while still in her seat at the time of the crash. He survived and was taken to hospital.
Plane passenger Jack Cabot said the collision sent ‘everyone flying everywhere in the plane’ and described the aftermath as ‘absolute chaos’.
LaGuardia will be closed until at least 2 p.m. today due to the accident, causing thousands of passengers to flee while airports across the country face serious delays due to the Department of Homeland Security shutdown.

An air traffic controller said it “sucked” after an Air Canada plane and a fire truck collided at LaGuardia airport on Sunday, according to audio recorded by LiveATC.
A Frontier pilot who was ordered to clear the runway after the crash told the controller, ‘This was not good to watch.’
The controller said: ‘Yes, I know I’m here. I tried to reach out. We were dealing with an emergency before. ‘I messed everything up.’
The pilot said, ‘No man, you did your best.’

Newark Airport ground stop removed after sudden tower evacuation
The ground stop at Newark Liberty International Airport was removed Monday morning after a sudden tower evacuation halted thousands of flights.
Tower personnel at a New Jersey airport had to be evacuated immediately due to reports of smoke, triggering a ground halt at one of the Northeast’s busiest airports, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials said.
The ground stop began around 7:50 a.m. ET and was lifted around 8:40 a.m. ET. But travelers are still reporting delays.
When will LaGuardia Airport reopen?
LaGuardia Airport is closed until at least 2pm ET on Monday as crews respond to the fatal Air Canada crash.
Frontier’s ticketing desk employee told the Daily Mail that no flights will leave the airport until 2pm at the earliest.
The worker said, ‘If there is a flight that says it will take off at 12 o’clock, it does not take off until 2 o’clock. “I don’t know if there are any other flights today,” he said.
At a press conference held in the early morning hours, Port Authority Executive Director Kathryn Garcia suggested that the closure could be done later.
‘This is the earliest date it can open,’ he said.

Delta warns of additional disruptions at LaGuardia
Delta Air Lines warned of additional cancellations and delays at LaGuardia Airport following the fatal Air Canada crash.
“Operations have been suspended at New York LaGuardia Airport following a collision involving an Air Canada Express CRJ aircraft operated by Jazz Aviation and a Port Authority fire truck,” Delta said in a statement at 9:45 a.m. Monday.
‘Delta has made the necessary program adjustments and additional adjustments are possible if the closure is extended. ‘Delta teams are partnering with the Airport Authority and Air Canada to support ongoing response efforts.’
Sen. Chuck Schumer says he’ll watch NTSB investigation ‘like a hawk’
New York Senator Chuck Schumer said he will watch the NTSB investigation into the LaGuardia Airport crash ‘like a hawk.’
“I just got off the phone with NTSB Chairman Jennifer Homendy and she told me that multiple investigators are on their way to LaGuardia,” Schumer wrote to X.
‘Two pilots lost their lives and dozens of New Yorkers were injured; We owe it to them and their families to find out exactly how this happened. I’ll be watching like a hawk to make sure the NTSB and local authorities get to the bottom of this matter.’
Unaccompanied child was on Air Canada plane
Port Authority Executive Director Kathryn Garcia shared that an unaccompanied child was on the Air Canada plane at the time of the crash at LaGuardia Airport.
“We understand that an unaccompanied child has been reunited with his family,” he told reporters Monday morning.

The pilots who died in the crash were outside Canada
The pilot and co-pilot killed in the plane crash at LaGuardia Airport were outside Canada, according to Kathryn Garcia, general manager of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport.
“Unfortunately, two pilots have been confirmed dead and notifications are currently being made by Air Canada’s maintenance team,” Garcia said at a news conference Monday morning.
‘We don’t have demographic information, but we understand they operate locally outside of Canada.’
Canadian Prime Minister described the accident as ‘deeply regrettable’
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney reacted to the deadly plane crash in New York City.
