MAGA-Coded CBS Anchor Falls Apart in Evening News Debut
Tony Dokoupil had a rough first day running the revamped CBS Evening News, starting by introducing himself twice in 80 seconds (three times if you count the anchor introducing the new anchor). Dokoupil, who criticized legendary CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite over the weekend, discussed Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s decision not to seek re-election and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s condemnation of Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly during Monday’s broadcast. But there were some confusing moments during his presentation that were hard to ignore. Dokoupil, 45, initially jumped from one topic to another, saying it had to do with Walz, but then cut himself off after a photo of Kelly appeared on the screen.
