Man held at Mumbai airport with marijuana worth ₹14.73 cr concealed in ‘diplomatic’ cargo

Authorities arrested a traveler at the international airport, allegedly trying to miss 15 kg hydroponic grass with a Crore value of approximately 14.73 Crore.

Authorities, on Sunday, August 3, 2025, said the illegal advance was hidden in a package labeled as “the Diplomatic Purse of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA)”.

Authority landed from the traveler Bangkok to Chhahatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

“During the examination of the baggage, customs officers regained 14,738 kg suspected hydroponic grass (cannabis) with an illegal market value of approximately 14,738 Crore.”

The illegal was hidden in the envelopes carried by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and sealed with the official Mea tape.

Narcotic drugs and a case was recorded within the scope of the law of psychotropic substances (NDP).
