Girl who went missing 32 years ago aged 13 found alive in shock reappearance | World | News

The 13-year-old girl who disappeared in the USA was found alive after 32 years, with a dramatic development announced by the police. Christina Marie Plante disappeared in 1994 in Star Valley, a small community northeast of Phoenix, Arizona. He was last seen walking on foot toward the barn where his horse was kept, according to a missing person poster released by the sheriff’s office.

This sparked an extensive search that included volunteers, but the case remains unsolved until now, with the Gila County Sheriff’s Office locating it. A missing person poster from last year read: “Christina Plante was last seen on 5/15/94 at approximately 12:30 PM at Moonlight Drive, Star Valley, Payson, AZ.

“She was 13 at the time of her disappearance and would be 44 now. She has blue eyes and natural dark blonde hair if it is not dyed.”

Meanwhile, the Sheriff’s Office announced: “At the time of his disappearance, an extensive search effort was conducted involving local law enforcement, volunteers and regional resources.

“Despite extensive ground investigations, interviews and investigative follow-up, no valid leads were developed.

“Over the years, the case has remained open and active; investigators periodically re-examine the evidence and follow up with new information as it emerges.”

Christina’s details have been added to national missing children databases. The pamphlets were distributed throughout the United States, but were only recently traced thanks to advances in modern technology.

The sheriff’s office added: “The formation of the Gila County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit signaled a renewed commitment to addressing unsolved investigations.

“Using advances in technology, modern investigative techniques and detailed case review, detectives developed new leads that ultimately led to a breakthrough,” the sheriff’s office said.

“After 32 years, Christina Marie Plante was located alive. Investigators confirmed her identity and her missing person status was officially resolved.

“This case underscores the importance of cold case investigation initiatives and the impact of emerging technology in bringing long-awaited answers to families and communities.

“The Sheriff’s Office expresses its gratitude to the investigators, analysts, partner agencies, and community members who contributed to keeping this case active for decades.”
