Met Office names 39 areas facing heavy rain on Saturday – full list | Weather | News

The Met Office has announced which areas will face rain this weekend ahead of a possible heatwave next week. The weather agency said showers were likely to hit northwestern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland on Saturday, while southern areas would remain mostly dry.

The forecast for Saturday to Monday is: “Scotland, Northern Ireland and the north-west of England will be mostly cloudy with showers. In the south it will be mostly dry with some sunshine. It will be hot in places.”

Levels are expected to remain relatively low; In most places it can be up to 0.5 mm/hour, but in Fort William in Scotland it can be up to 16 mm/hour.

The worst affected areas in England are predicted to be Cumbria and North Yorkshire; Local showers of up to 4 mm per hour are possible in both of these regions.

A small amount of rain will also fall in the Peak District, Lincolnshire and Norfolk, but rates are not expected to exceed 2mm per hour.
