DMK Chief Stalin Announces Party Reorganisation Advisory Committee
Chennai: DMK president MK Stalin constituted a 10-member ‘party restructuring advisory panel’ to examine feedback received from cadres and others after the election results and recommend changes in the party structure from branches to the top level to recover and win the polls. Reminding that a 38-member committee was established to interact with party workers and evaluate the basic situation after the debacle in the parliamentary elections, Stalin said that he examined the reports presented to him.
Additionally, views were solicited on the internet and around “six lakh views” were obtained.

In the party statement made on Tuesday, the former prime minister said that the common opinion advocated the reorganization of the party in line with today’s times.
Stalin said: “Based on this, I have some views on the reorganization and reconstruction of the party. I believe that the right time has come to carry out the necessary restructuring from the branch level to the higher party bodies to revitalize the party. We must realize that reorganization and restructuring are absolutely necessary to correct our past shortcomings and approach the people in a new format.”
He announced that a committee has been formed to recommend uniform changes in the party structure, taking into account the views and suggestions received from party members so far.
“This committee will present its recommendations to me in the first week of August,” he said.
The proposals include redistricting of party districts and restructuring of various wings of the party.
Recommendations will also include restructuring initiatives in various committees, including the committee on elections; the need for a permanent set-up for election work and a body like a ‘Think tank’ to advise the leadership.
Stalin said the restructuring will be achieved by comprehensive discussion of such recommendations in the party’s higher bodies and with district secretaries.
Party leaders Thangam Thennarasu, Geetha Jeevan, R Sakkarapani and SS Sivasankar are among the members who will lead the panel.
Party functionaries Tamilarasi Ravikumar, MM Abdullah, I Paranthamen, S Murasoli, MP Ezhilan and SKP Karuna are other members of the committee.
C Joseph Vijay-led TVK bagged an impressive 108 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections held on April 23, 2026, leaving behind the MK Stalin-led incumbent DMK, which finished with just 59 seats.
