Victorian Liberals director resigns after messages mocking the party’s women’s council revealed | Victoria

Stuart Smith, Director of Victoria liberals, resigned after the publication of the party’s women’s council and upper home deputy Bev McARTHUR.
Smith resigned on Thursday morning and apologized for WhatsApp messages in the Liberal Party Headquarters Personnel Group conversation published by Australia on Wednesday night.

Smith said he apologized for the comments and would resign to avoid distracting the party.
“For the benefit of the party, I resigned to minimize the distracting elements from the important task of winning the next election. I regret the comments and apologized to them,” he said.
“I thank the party for the opportunity and wish the team well.”
Victoria Liberal leader Brad Battin said Smith’s resignation was the “right thing to do”.
Battin said, “His comments were unacceptable and it does not reflect the standards of professionalism, honesty and involving that we all expect from each other,” Battin said.
