Olympiad on astronomy, astrophysics to start from August 12

18. International Astronomy and Astrophysical Olympics (IOAA) will participate in Mumbai on Tuesday, more than 300 high school students from 64 countries.

Olympiad, organized by Homi Bhabha Science Education Center (HBCSE), will be held at the Jio World Congress Center. The opening ceremony will attend the opening ceremony of the International Association of Astronomy Ajay Sood and the main scientific consultant of Ajit Kembhavi.

According to HBCSE, the 18th IOAA will see the record participation of 300 student contestants and approximately 140 leaders (Mentor/Teacher) and will include every continent, including several countries. So far, every Olympiad has hosted 40 to 50 teams with more than 200 contestants with its leaders and academic consultants.

IOAA was designed to meet the increasing global interest in astronomy among high school students in 2006, and the first IOAA was held in 2007 at Chiang Mai in Thailand.

“The IOAA curriculum is designed to force students through theoretical, observational and data analysis difficulties, H Hbcse said.
