3D printing one way to tackle slow build times

According to Michael McDowan, General Manager of Housing Association, WA aims to contribute 25,000 homes, but the current capacity is short, the current labor force and supply chain can deliver only 18,000-20,000 houses a year.

Mc We need to change our way to reach this number, Mc said McDowan, Mc said McDowan.

“This means 3D printing, modular housing, looking at small houses – everything that can help us surrender the houses faster.”

Modular houses, which are prefabricated in the factories and mounted on -site, gain traction for their speed and efficiency, but there are obstacles to acquire and finance land for the factory area.

Banks were slow to adapt, but that’s changing. Commonwealth Bank has recently expanded its credit criteria to better support prefabricated home structures, led to a significant obstacle for buyers.

McDowan said that the next challenge was to scale printing technology.

“It is expensive to bring printing machines from abroad,” he said.

“We need to have a more common son to really carry the needle to housing numbers.”

Nevertheless, the future of the construction in WA comes quickly with the foundations, walls and even robots laying backyard pools.
