Chirag Paswan questions Tejashwi Yadav’s claim as CM candidate, says alliance cannot develop Bihar

As Bihar gears up for the Assembly Elections, Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) on Saturday attacked the Mahagathbandhan over reports of Tejashwi Yadav as Bihar’s Chief Minister candidate, saying even the alliance did not approve of it.

Chirag Paswan met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Patna to discuss strategies to secure key constituencies ahead of the 243-seat Bihar Assembly elections scheduled to be held on November 6 and 11, with counting to be held on November 14.

Speaking to journalists, Paswan stated that a coalition struggling with internal conflicts cannot achieve development and warned that the people will not accept such leadership before the state elections.
“He is the one who said that Tejashwi Yadav’s name was approved (as CM candidate) when even the alliance did not say that Tejashwi was approved. People will not accept these. An alliance with so many infighting cannot develop Bihar,” he said.

Earlier today, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said that “a very popular candidate” and former deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav should be declared as the chief ministerial candidate of the Mahagathbandhan.

He also emphasized that the mistakes made in seat allocation and candidate selection seen in Maharashtra should not be repeated in Bihar. Chaturvedi told ANI on Friday: “The mistakes made in the Maharashtra elections, including non-announcement of the chief ministerial candidate, as well as disagreements between the three alliance partners over seat allocation and selection of candidates, should not be repeated in Bihar. Tejashwi Yadav is a very popular candidate. He also added: “He is almost in a neck-and-neck fight with Nitish Kumar and other so-called chief ministerial candidates. He did an extraordinary job when he was deputy prime minister. So, it is time that, as part of the INDIA ALLIANCE and in the spirit of it, we all stand together and support the stronger party and declare it as its leader. Minister candidate…”

Meanwhile, the Congress party has announced its first list of 48 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections.

According to the official statement on Thursday, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Rajesh Ram will contest from Kutumba Assembly seat, while Congress Legislative Assembly Party (CLP) leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan will contest from Kadwa constituency.

Of the total 48 candidates, 24 will compete in the first stage of the elections and 24 will compete in the second stage. The remaining names will be announced in due course, the party said.
