Snow-bearing cold snap to stay for the weekend as Mount Buller in Victoria blanketed by 40cm of snow

In a cold snap, Australia immersed large areas of the Southeast into cold temperatures – some areas covered in snow up to 40 cm – and signs that it will endure by the end of the week.

Some parts of Inland NSW have experienced low enough to bring snow -covered space, including the central Tablelands towns of Oberon and Black Springs.

The images captured by the locals during Wednesday and Thursday show that the town has been wrapped in a thick snow blanket.

Rob Arvato, owner of the local ski center in Victoria Mount Buller, said that ABC News came to thick and fast.

Arvato, “around 35 in the last 24 hours, maybe 40 cm (snow) I think we live around,” he said.

“When I was a child who grew up on Mount Buller here, I don’t remember ever skiing at the beginning of June. You know, it was very rare. It was really encouraging that Victoria had such snowfall.”

“We knew that the front was coming, all the models were showing the snow to our way, so we always remained optimistic. Nature was delivered with the sign immediately… Really incredible experience… It sounds as you are in Europe right now, amazing!”

Bom Meteorologist Miriam Bradbury said that the “wide printing areas kar will bring cool mornings to the large parts of South Australia and that the cold trend will continue when it arrived on Friday.

“Tomorrow in the new Southern Wales, widespread morning frosts are estimated by the east morning fogs,” he said.

“We also see the dangerous surfing conditions on the coast of Avcı and Macquarie, especially for some parts of the eastern coast, especially with strong swelling in the south.”

“Tomorrow we go to Sydney, one or two shower and 17C. After a cold start in Canberra, we go to a partially cloudy top of 13C.”
