According to police sources, the vehicle belonged to the mastermind and prime suspect of the Red Fort blast, Dr. It is registered in the name of Umar Un Nabi. It is alleged that the EcoSport was used by Umar Nabi and his friends for reconnaissance and logistics movements before the explosion.
The discovery is vital in the investigation of what has been called the worst terror incident since April’s Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people, and Delhi’s biggest terror incident after a series of bomb attacks in 2005.
Delhi Police was intensively searching for a red Ford EcoSport car. Police have deployed five special teams in the city and authorities in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have also been alerted. They are in touch with nearby toll plazas to search for CCTV footage to track his movement.
Police stations across Delhi NCR, police stations and border checkpoints across Delhi have been alerted for any information regarding the vehicle, while Delhi Police is vigilantly searching for the car.
Delhi Police said on Wednesday that the search began after investigators learned that the Red Fort blast case suspects were driving an additional car other than the previously identified Hyundai i20. The search of the car is vital for investigators as it is believed to hold important evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Some of the suspects, including Un Nabi, were linked to Al Falah University in Faridabad, while others were arrested from Kashmir’s Pahalgam district. The police found a large cache of explosives and other materials while investigating whether there was any terrorist activity in the Delhi-NCR region. The investigation led to the arrest of several doctors, others, explosives, a red Ford EcoSport car and many other connections to the case.
