Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat inspected Dwaraka RTC Complex on Monday and inspected passenger amenities, cleanliness, infrastructure and maintenance at the city’s main bus transit hub.
During the visit, he held meetings with RTC Regional Director P. Appala Naidu and other officials. Noting that the complex caters to around one lakh passengers a day, Mr. Sribharat said it plays a crucial role in the city’s public transport network.
The MP inspected waiting rooms, commercial facilities, toilets, drinking water facilities and sanitation arrangements. While he appreciated the maintenance staff’s efforts to keep the facilities clean, he expressed concern about passengers throwing their waste outside of designated bins. He emphasized the need for greater public awareness and civic responsibility in maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.
Mr. Sribharat also reviewed the hygiene standards in canteens operating within the complex and underlined adherence to food safety norms to protect the health of commuters.
In reviewing passenger information facilities, he observed that bus schedules were currently displayed via static boards and suggested the introduction of digital display systems that provided real-time information on arrivals, departures, platform allocations and delays. The official said such measures will provide convenience to passengers.
Although the complex is managed efficiently, Mr. Sribharat noted that aesthetic improvements, infrastructure improvements and expansion of digital facilities could further enhance the commuting experience. He said the observations made during the visit will be examined and appropriate recommendations will be taken into account to transform the Dwaraka RTC Complex into a more modern and passenger-friendly transport facility.
