August 2025 payments dates for benefits and pensions plus cost of living support

For millions of people in the United Kingdom, increasing prices continue to be a daily struggle as they continue to leave their revenues behind.
The latest research by the Solution Foundation found that the cost of the foundations in the UK was stubbornly high, and that the cost of the life crisis in 2022 was too late after the ‘summit’.
Although inflation has returned to pandemic levels, the cost of goods has been constantly high in the face of stagnant wages. At the same time, the invoices of the exorbitant households mean that millions of people are struggling with debts to meet the foundations.
Approximately 7.3 million adults (13.9 percent of the households) suffered food insecurity in January 2025, the figures from the Food Foundation show signs of returning to pre -2022 levels. Meanwhile, energy debts have increased more than twice the last five years and at the end of 2024, it rose to £ 3.9 billion.
Against this difficult economic ground, it is important that households demand all the support they deserve. Approximately 24 million people in the country claim to represent a combination of the benefits managed by DWP.
However, research with policy in practice shows that the benefit of £ 23 billion is not requested every year – Auxiliary calculator To find out what you can qualify.

When will the benefit rates increase?
In April, all benefits increased by 1.7 percent and matched the September 2024 inflation figure. Universal loan, PIP, DLA, Participation allowance, caregiver’s allowance, ESA and more, including the increase applied to all working age benefits.
Meanwhile, in terms of the triple lock, the state pension increased by 4.1 percent in 2024 with an increase of 4.1 percent – an increase of £ 472 per year.
In April 2026, all universal credit plaintiffs will increase over inflation in their revenues after the transition of the controversial welfare invoice of the Labor Party. These inflationary increases will continue until 2029 and the first will be an increase of at least 2.3 percent.
However, at the same time, the monthly payment rate for new plaintiffs for health -related universal loan will be cut from £ $ 50 from £ 105. This ratio will be frozen until 2029.
This is a decrease of more than £ 200 per month and reduces the additional ratio to approximately half. This means that they are recommended for anyone who thinks they can apply as soon as possible.
Other aid available
Budgeting Advance Loans
The government offers a ‘budgeting advance loan’ that faces a lack of emergency for people with universal loans. The maximum repayment time of the loan is two years.
These loans are interest -free and automatically deducted from universal credit payments. You can borrow a ‘progress’ up to the following:
- If you are single £ 348
- If you are part of a couple, £ 464
- If you or your partner demand child assistance £ 812
In October, after the labor force budget, a new boundary was introduced to the amount of benefit payments to repay DWP’s advance loans, including budgeting, to repay loans and debts.
As of April 2025, interruptions from universal loan will decrease from 25 percent in 15 percent of the standard allowance.
Optional housing payment
They may apply to their councils for the optional housing payment (DHP), which provides financial support to go to households, rent or housing costs.
You can only get a DHP if you get a housing advantage or the housing element of the universal loan. If you need to move home, it can cover the housing costs for rent deficit, rent deposits and rent rental.
The exact compliance and the existing funds are decided on the basis of the council, so you will need to contact your local authority to find out more.
Household Support Fund
The Household Support Fund (HSF) distributed by local councils offers vital help to those who face financial difficulties and those who complete standard benefits and grants.
As part of this government initiative, appropriate household peoples throughout the UK can access support such as contributions to basic devices, public services invoices and direct cash payments reaching £ 300.
Local authorities are free to decide how to allocate HSF funds to the households in their regions, so that exactly what is present will change. In order to apply, households need to communicate with their councils (most online form).
This program will last until March 2026. The government has committed an £ 1 billion fund to switch to a ‘crisis and durability fund’, which will replace the DHP.
Philanthropist grades
If you are financially fighting, you may be suitable for specific charitable grants. There are a wide variety of grants available depending on your conditions.
However, these grants will usually require you to meet certain criteria and only offer limited funds.
