The teen social media ban starts now. Will it work?

SOCIAL MEDIA BAN ON YOUTH BEGINS

Here it is, folks: Australia’s social media ban on teenagers starts today.

As we all know, thanks to my colleague Cam Wilson Unique reporting, children under 16 will no longer be able to access Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Snapchat, TikTok, X, YouTube, Reddit, Twitch or Kick.

At least that’s the plan.

Like Guardian Australia More realistically, this morning, platforms are “expected to take steps” to remove accounts owned by people under 16 and prevent them from opening new accounts.
