Man arrested for sexually assaulting minor girl escapes from police, ends life by jumping into pond in Kakinada district

It was reported that T. Narayana Rao (62), who allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl, ended his life by jumping into the pond on the outskirts of Tuni town in Kakinada district. The victim and the accused are from Tuni town.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Rao reportedly took the girl out of the government school with permission on the pretext of her medical need. He then allegedly sexually assaulted the victim in a garden, where he was allegedly caught by the garden owner.

The incident came to light on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, when the garden owner posted the video online. Peddapuram district police arrested the accused.

Peddapuram Deputy Superintendent of Police D Sreehariraju said: Hindu: “Medical examinations were completed at the Tunisian public hospital at 22:00 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. While the defendant was being taken to production before the local court, at around 22:20, he applied to the escort team to be allowed to go to the toilet. Mr. Narayana Rao suddenly ran away and jumped into the pond.”

“Search operation was launched immediately. However, the trace of Mr. Narayana Rao’s body was found in the pond around 8 am on Thursday,” said DSP Mr. Sreehariraju.
