Teenagers arrested as police crack down on e-bikes

The police will destroy the illegal e-bikes seized in a alleged pressure that young people have accelerated due to a pressure to arrange vehicles.

Some of them allegedly traveling more than 50 km/h on illegal e-bikes, five young people were arrested as part of a police operation in North NSW at the weekend.

A 14-year-old male and a 16-year-old girl on Saturday while more than 50 km/h e-bike driving allegedly caught, a 13-year-old child recklessly riding and a wheel was allegedly detected.

A 15-year-old child was allegedly traveling more than 80km/s on an electric motorcycle, and a 13-year-old child was accused of accelerating an e-bike.

Detective Inspector Matt Zimmer said the police would continue their pressure.

“This practice is often customers to reduce road trauma and increase community safety, especially other road users, pedestrians and shopping centers and public spaces.” He said.

“These operations will continue to distribute secret police throughout the region to prevent and disrupt the use of illegal e-bikes and associated e-bike crimes.”

Police said they would destroy illegal e-bikes of those arrested.
