Op Sindoor Showcased Tri-Service Synergy: Army Chief General Dwivedi

New Delhi: Operation Sindoor, carried out in response to the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, is the best example of “tri-service synergy under clear political directive”, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi said on Tuesday.
Addressing the annual press conference in the national capital, General Dwivedi said the Armed Forces had complete freedom to “act or react” during the operation.
“Operation Sindoor was a prime example of tri-service synergy under clear political directive and full freedom to act or react,” he said, adding that military intervention was continuing.
He asserted that any future misfortune would be “met with determination”.
“As you may be aware, Operation Sindoor is ongoing and any future misfortune will be responded to decisively. I must acknowledge the proactive role of all stakeholders at the national level, including CAPFs, intelligence agencies, civil institutions, state administration and other ministries (MHA, Railways and more),” the army chief said.
General Dwivedi stated that the operation reset strategic assumptions by dealing a deep blow, shattering the terrorist infrastructure and puncturing the long-standing nuclear discourse.
“Following the Pahalgam terror attack, a clear response was taken at the highest level. Operation Sindoor was conceptualized and executed meticulously. With a 22-minute start on May 7 and an orchestration that lasted 88 hours until May 10, the operation reset strategic assumptions by dealing a deep blow, shattering the terrorist infrastructure and puncturing the long-standing nuclear narrative.”
“The army successfully destroyed seven out of nine targets and subsequently played a key role in mounting a calibrated response to Pakistan’s actions,” he added.
Drawing attention to the global security environment, General Dwivedi drew attention to the increasing number of armed conflicts around the world and said that preparedness is the key to national security.
“The past year has seen a sharp increase in the number and intensity of armed conflicts around the world. These global changes underscore a simple truth: countries that are prepared prevail. In this environment, Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s preparedness, precision and strategic clarity,” he said.
The army chief also said that the Indian Army is satisfied with the progress achieved in 2025 through initiatives under ‘Partnership, Atmanirbharta and Innovation’.
“Through a clear call made by the Prime Minister in September 2025 and our initiatives under ‘JAI’ (Partnership, Atmanirbharta and Innovation), the year of reform announced by Raksha Mantri in January 2025, we can rightfully be satisfied with the progress made in 2025,” General Dwivedi said.
