Johannesburg Park Station is the city’s central railway center and the largest train station in Africa. The station was first established in 1887. However, it was opened for 138 years and had more than one transformation.

In 1964, Johannesburg Park station was the target of a bomb attack that killed a 77 -year -old woman and injured 23 people.
John Harris of the African Resistance Movement was convicted of murder, and in 1965 he was killed after adding the bomb only to a white platform of the station.
The station was recognized by the Johannesburg symbol divided during the years of South African Apartheid systems. Former President Nelson Mandela described the “steel river” railway lines and “hostile” buildings to divide the capital cut into two.
Today, the park station is the heart of Witwatersrand Metrorail Network, and serves Carletonville, Randfontein and Soweta in the West and East regularly serves Springs, Nigel and Daveyton.
