Seven more Chairperson posts take Congress tally to 93, indirect elections to 3 Telangana Municipalities postponed

The ruling Congress added seven more Presidential posts to its tally on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, taking its total to 93 so far. The Telangana State Election Commission also announced in the afternoon that the Model Code of Conduct in force for Telangana Municipal Polls-2026 has been abolished.

While the results of 105 Municipalities and 7 Municipal Corporations were announced on Monday, elections for 11 Municipalities were postponed to Tuesday. The process was carried out for 8 of 11 municipalities, and 3 were postponed again. While Congress candidates won seven posts, Bharat Rashtra Samithi also won one post.

Of the 113 Municipalities whose results have been declared so far, the Congress has won 93 Presidential positions and the BRS has won 19, including four by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) and four by independent candidates.

Of the eight Mayoral posts he won on Tuesday, Jangaon and Thorrur Municipality leadership positions were won by lottery.
