How street-level data is changing the way India sees air pollution—and the startup behind it

EY sustainability consultant Neeti Mahajan said Respirer could show exactly which street, at what time and in which activity saw increases, rather than citywide averages, which is a historical precedent. “For Indian cities in particular, this is a game changer. Here houses, traffic, small workshops, waste incineration and construction are often located in the same block, and due to this mixed land use, air quality can vary greatly within a few hundred metres,” he said.
