All the big political donations from the gambling industry

The long arm of the gambling lobby is well documented.

While the government is stepping up to the plate and solemnly telling the public that it is only out of an abundance of care and caution that it has so far refused to heed key recommendations from Peta Murphy’s 2023 report into the harm of gambling, more and more stories are emerging about the extent of the gambling industry’s influence in the halls of power.

The Australian Electoral Commission published its latest transparency report this week, detailing all political donations made above the $16,900 threshold for the past financial year (which includes, crucially, the most recent federal election).
