Alaska issued tsunami advisory after 7.8 magnitude Russian earthquake as California and Hawaii monitor threat

Following the 7.8 earthquake on the eastern coast of Russia, a tsunami advisor was published for a part of Alaska on 18 September. The counseling represents the second highest warning level in the Tsunami warning system of the National Weather Service.

The counseling covers the Western Aleutian Islands between Amchitka Pass and Attu. The National Weather Service in Anchorage issued a consultancy stating that residents should “stay away from the beaches and waterways”.
