Winter Olympics 2026: Kirsty Muir fourth in freestyle skiing big air

Freestyle skier Kirsty Muir once again came heartbreakingly close to a Winter Olympic medal for Team GB by finishing second at the Games.

Competing in big air, Muir totaled 174.75 points in her best two runs, 3.5 points behind Italian bronze medalist Flora Tabanelli.

This came exactly a week after missing out on the Slopestyle bronze medal by just 0.41 points.

Canada’s Megan Oldham won gold with China’s reigning champion Eileen Gu, competing in a major air event for the first time since winning the Olympic title four years ago, and settled for silver this time.

The final was postponed for more than an hour after a heavy snowstorm broke out in Livigno Snow Park, while Mathilde Gremaud, the heavy favorite for the medal, was one of two Swiss skiers to withdraw at the last minute due to injury.

More to follow.
