Spain’s population hits record-breaking 50m after staggering migrant arrivals | World | News

The population of Spain broke about 50 million records due to the high level of migration to the country. According to the temporary data of the National Institute of Statistics (IE), the European country is now home to 49,315,949 people as of July 1. This represents the annual increase of 119,811 residents and more than half a million people in the second quarter of the year.
Growth is primarily attributed to the influx of foreign immigrants, while the number of individuals born in Spain continues to decrease. Only 137,931 foreign -born individuals were calm in the second quarter, whereas the population born in Spanish decreased by 18.120.
The number of foreign citizens increased by 95,277 and exceeded 7 million in the country, while the Spanish national population saw a more modest increase of 24,534.
The best nationalities among the new immigrants were Colombian (36,100 arrival), Morocco (25,000) and Venezuela (21,600).
These groups also formed the biggest share of immigrants with other important origins such as Peru, Italy, Argentina, Honduras, Algeria and Cuba.
Each region except Melilla saw the increase in the population with the most important growth observed in Aragón (+0.91%), followed by the Valencian community (0.50%) and Balear Islands (+0.42%).
The number of households increased, reached 19.6 million, 49.221 increase, aging, solo life and changing family dynamics due to the average decline of household -sized.
