Perth grandmother will not appeal Japan drug smuggling conviction
Perth grandmother Donna Nelson has ended her fight against drug trafficking crime in Japan.
The 59-year-old man, a “blind mule”, had until Friday to appeal to the Supreme Court After the High Court in Tokyo last month upheld his conviction and six-year prison sentence..

His family confirmed 9News Perth will not make a new application.
The former federal Greens candidate was arrested at Narita Airport in January 2023 with almost two kilos of methamphetamine hidden in her bag.
The court heard she was the victim of an online romance scam but had doubts about her lover’s intentions.

In September, the Tokyo High Court found that the mother of five put aside her concerns and doubts and complied with the man known as Kelly’s request to bring the bag to Japan for his fashion design job.
The Department of State and Commerce helped Nelson and his family better understand the prisoner transfer process, his daughter Ashlee Charles said Friday.
