Woman charged with murder over fatal Melbourne house fire | Melbourne

A woman has been charged with murder following a deadly house fire in Melbourne’s southeast last month.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire and injuries at Sunburnt Circuit in Clyde North, 46 km south-east of Melbourne CBD, at around 1.45am on December 18.

While two men, aged 46 and 44, were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, the 44-year-old man died due to his injuries later the same day. The woman, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to the hospital. ABC reported.

He was charged following the incident, Victoria police said in a statement on Friday.

“The 29-year-old woman, who was hospitalized under police guard, was charged this morning with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder,” the statement said. Police believe the parties involved knew each other.

The woman was remanded in custody to appear in Melbourne magistrates’ court on Saturday.

Police said a 43-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl who were on the property at the time were not physically injured during the incident.

It was learned that the 46-year-old man’s condition was stable and he was in the hospital.
