Cam Skattebo injury: Giants rookie has surgery on dislocated ankle

Cam Skattebo’s promising start to his rookie season was disrupted after he dislocated his ankle in the New York Giants’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
Skattebo had surgery on his ankle in Philadelphia. Giants head coach Brian Daboll said the surgery went well and Skattebo is “on the mend.”

Skattebo caught a touchdown pass from rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart in the first quarter. Dart targeted Skattebo for a pass in the second quarter. The running back jumped and landed on his leg, causing an ankle injury.

Skattebo was taken off the field in a medical cart.
“I’m devastated,” Dart said of his teammate’s injury. “He’s my son, so it sucks to see him go down and openly react to what happened. It’s the worst part of the game.”
Dart and Skattebo were building a great relationship. The duo had a great game against the Eagles two weeks ago, which ended in an upset victory. It looked like the Giants were starting to gain some momentum for the remainder of the season, but injury will set back progress.
New York selected Skattebo in the fourth round of the Arizona State draft.

He has 410 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground. Additionally, he had 24 catches on 32 targets for 207 yards and two touchdowns.
The Giants are 2-6 after Sunday’s loss.
