Vance says ‘no chance’ US will get into protracted Middle East war

As President Donald Trump pressures Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions amid rising tensions, Vice President J.D. Vance told the Washington Post that the United States has no chance of engaging in a years-long war in the Middle East.
“The idea that we’re going to be in a Middle East war for years with no end in sight is unlikely to happen,” Vance said Thursday. exit.
“I think we all prefer the diplomatic option,” he said, according to the Post. “But it really depends on what the Iranians do and say.”

“I think we need to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past. I also think we need to avoid relearning the lessons of the past. Just because a president screws up a military conflict doesn’t mean we can never have a military conflict again. We have to be careful about that, but I think the president is careful,” Vance told the outlet.
