Explaining how he felt about taking part, Brian admitted he was ‘really excited’ and explained that he was keen to sign up because his youngest daughter Ruby, aged four, is a huge fan of the show.
He said: ‘I’m delighted to be part of the Strictly Christmas special. We’re huge fans of Strictly, so dancing in such a magical show on Christmas Day will make it a Christmas to remember.
‘I’m really excited because my little girl Ruby is absolutely obsessed with Strictly this year. So as soon as I get home from school it starts again. We watch every day on Saturday and Sunday, so we’re really into it.
‘Then when I got the call to do the Christmas Special I said ‘you must be kidding’. I mean, our family is so excited right now that they’re even watching it at home.’
The singer also praised dance partner Michelle, 30, admitting: ‘I’m so excited. But I’m getting a little older and not as fit as I used to be, but Michelle is an incredible teacher; ‘He’s great.’
