Perth man arrested after allegedly praising Bondi Beach gunmen in social media post

WA Police allege Glynn was flying a Palestinian flag outside his home, causing concern among neighbours, and when they looked at his phone they discovered footage of him trying to make a smoke bomb.

Glynn maintained that he collected flags and had more than 50 of them.

He said in his social media posts that he was a supporter of the Palestinian people.

“Yes, I am a doomsday planner, I have downloaded information, I had time, I had money, but I have no intention of harming anyone, I did not provide anything,” he said.

“I keep it to myself, my neighbors don’t know me very well, I’ve never had any problems with the law. I’m not a violent person, quite the opposite.”

Judge Ben Tyers said the alleged actions posed a danger to the community.

“There is nothing illegal or inappropriate about supporting the Palestinian cause; it is inappropriate to post online comments supporting the slaughter of innocent civilians,” he said.

He also added that the “boxes and boxes” of ammunition and weapons stacked around the house were of “serious concern”.

Glynn was denied bail and is expected to appear in court again in February.
