President Donald Trump offered new details about his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday, saying he expects the meeting to last several hours.
Trump made the comments Wednesday at a diplomatic dinner hosted by South Korean President Lee Jae‑myung. As Trump sat down to dinner, he was caught on a hot mic Thursday morning saying his meeting with Xi would last “three to four hours.”
Trump said, “We will encounter something that will satisfy China and us very, very much. I think it will be a very good meeting. I look forward to it when we meet tomorrow morning.”
During his official remarks, Trump also said he was confident South Korea’s conflict with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un “will turn out very well.”

“You have a neighbor who is not as good as he could be, and I think it will be. I know Kim Jong Un very well, and I think things will turn out very well,” he said.
Trump said earlier this week that he would be open to meeting with Kim during his time in South Korea. Trump, who visited Japan earlier this week, begins the last leg of his five-day Asia trip on Wednesday.
During the banter on Air Force One on Monday, Trump said, “I would love to meet him if he wants to meet. I got along very well with Kim Jong Un. I liked him, and he liked me.”
WHILE TRUMP’S ASIA TRIP CONTINUED, TRUMP’S FOCUS TURNED TO JAPAN AND SOUTH KOREA

Trump met with Kim multiple times during his first term and became the first US president to set foot in North Korea. However, no meeting was announced for this week.
Trump’s talks with his South Korean counterpart come as the two countries approach finalizing a new trade deal.
“Trump’s main goal in meeting with Lee Jae-myung is to secure a trade deal and with it $350 billion in investment into the United States,” Henry Haggard, former advisor to the minister for political affairs at the US Embassy in Seoul, told Fox News Digital.
“He will also try to force Lee to take a stronger stance against China and increase defense spending. Lee will try to influence Trump because the key to keeping the bilateral relationship on track is for Lee to have a stronger relationship with Trump.”

Lee heads a left-leaning government that has so far been reluctant to expand South Korea’s partnership with the United States for fear of provoking a Chinese response.
