Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons was hospitalized twice over stress: report

The White House pushed back sharply on Friday over a report that acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director Todd Lyons had been hospitalized at least twice for stress-related issues with the Trump administration, leaving him visibly upset and nervous.
The pushback came after an incident Policy report It was stated that Lyons was hospitalized at least twice for stress-related problems while carrying out President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda.
The stress left Lyons unable to carry out important decisions, the report said, citing two unnamed current and two former administration officials.

“He would be visibly upset and had a hard time making the decisions the director needed to make,” an unnamed former official told the news site.
“Trash news from a trash ‘reporter’ who pushed the tabloid whore in an attempt to divide and distract. Todd Lyons is an American Patriot,” the White House Quick Response X account said in response to the story.
Those incidents were attributed to pressure from above for Lyons to expedite deportations and to senior adviser Stephen Miller, who allegedly yelled at Lyons during morning phone calls with administration officials, Politico reported.
Miller’s wife, Katie Miller, wrote of

Jackson wrote of X: “Shame on Politico for publishing such false nonsense.” “Todd Lyons is an American patriot who has worked tirelessly to roll back Biden’s disastrous immigration policies that have harmed American communities. And the American people are deeply grateful for the hard work he has done to make our country safer. Despite the many denials on the record and sources debunking their pathetic ‘report’ and *still* publishing this ridiculous article.”
Reported hospitalizations lasted over several months. In one incident, Lyons was taken to the hospital by security guards and remained hospitalized overnight.
In September, Lyons was upset that ICE agents, along with senior administration officials, were unable to locate an illegal immigrant in Los Angeles.
One of his guards took a portable defibrillator from a nearby government office to Lyons in case he needed medical attention, the report said.

After heated exchanges with Miller, Lyons expressed frustration that the White House often railed against his agency, according to the current official and former official who heard such comments.

“Todd, Stephen and the entire White House team have a great working relationship and are cooperating closely to deliver on the president’s many promises,” White House press secretary Abigail Jackson said in a statement. he said. “Todd Lyons is an American patriot who is working tirelessly to roll back Biden’s disastrous immigration policies that are harming American communities.”
